Oil acts as an effective lubricant during the sharpening process to float away metal and abrasive dust that would otherwise clog up the stone and ultimately render it useless. This pharmacopoeia grade mineral oil meets FDA requirements for use near food and is designed specifically for sharpening stone use. The oil is in a child proof 1 pint bottle and also suitable for use on wood cutting boards and utensils.
